This is a charming room, with a fine bed and quaint original fireplace. It is on the first floor with views across the stream (Ghyll is the local word for a mountain stream) to the waterwheel. Pause awhile to sit upon the window seat and look out over the river and waterwheel, a view unique to our guesthouse.
A large gilt-framed antique mirror and original Victorian prints of the Windermere area add to the atmospheric appeal. The calming nature of the period blue Farrow and Ball paintwork, coupled with William Morris Brer Rabbit fabric, finishes off this room perfectly.
In your luxurious room, you will find a flat screen television with SkyCinema movies and NOWtv entertainment channels, super fast wifi and a variety of magazines or borrow a book from a small selection downstairs in the hall.
A welcome tray is provided, including coffee, tea and hot chocolate (Fair Trade), and biscuits. There is usually a sample of home-baking as well. In addition, a crystal decanter with a good splash of Port inside is cordially presented for your enjoyment.
The Bathroom
A generous-sized bathroom beckons, with its roll-top bath and Victorian style high level toilet. Lashings of steaming hot water always available, for a relaxing bathe or revitalising shower.
Fluffy bath robes, towels and face cloths are provided, as well as complimentary luxury toiletries from local company, Pure Lakes.
