We can’t believe that we have now been custodians of this wonderful building for a full year, and what a year it has been. We had to close for Covid within a month of moving in and were desperately sad to send guests home before they’d even finished their stay back in March 2020.
We never dreamt in a million years that we would only be open for 4 months in our first year, but wow did we have the most beautiful spring and early summer in a deserted Lakeland before re-opening. It did give us plenty of time to apply a fresh coat of paint to the rooms and to make sure everything was tip top when our guests returned. It also gave us the chance to walk every single walk from the front door, in every single direction at least a dozen times. It almost balanced out Debbies baking, but all the cream scones, chocolate tiffin and tasty biscuits eaten in the breakfast room whilst watching the waterwheel through the window definitely took their toll on our waistline.
One of our favourite walks is up to High Sweden Bridge in the shadow of Red Screes and Paul managed to capture this sunset shot on the walk back down.
